  INTRODUCTION
  
  The study of phraseological units within phraseosemantic field “Nature” is seen today as very important and topical. The reason of topicality of phraseologisms about nature is linked with the fact that natural phenomena are used in their direct meaning in phraseology of different languages very rarely. More often people of different nationalities use the components of the semantic field “Nature” in phraseology in order to represent their comprehension of the world through natural objects.
  The relevance of the paper is approved by the fact that the study of phraseological units of one and the same phraseosemantic field in comparative aspect in two languages is important for understanding the formation of world picture of Russian people and Englishmen.
  The object of the study is phraseology of English and Russian.
  The subjects of the research are phraseological units with components relating to nation.
  The objective of the present study is to hold a comparative analysis of phraseological units with the components relating to the phraseosemantic field “Nature” in English and Russian.

  CHAPTER 1. PECULIAR FEATURES AND TYPES OF PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS IN MODERN LINGUISTICS
  1.1 Definition of the Notion “Phraseological Unit”
  
  Phraseological unit is one of the most arguable terms in modern linguistics. It is actively studied by many Russian and foreign scientists paying attention to the definition of the term, its peculiar features, typologies and other aspects meaningful in the language study.
  The analysis of stable collocations used in the language in their fixed form is complicated by the fact that there is not any unique term for nomination of such stable collocations. In the modern linguistic researchers a lot of different terms are used which can be seen more or less synonymic. Linguists operate several terms concerning words and word-combinations with transferred meaning, such as “phraseologism” or “phraseological units”, “idiom”, “set phrase”, “cliche”, “lexical bundles”, “fixed expression”, “formulaic sequence” which are sometimes considered to be synonymic according to C. Furriassi [44, p.241]. These terms are understood as synonymic according to the fact that they have several common features. Firstly, they consist of at least two lexical units. Consequently, they are word-combinations, according to their syntactical structure. Secondly, compositional analysis of such word-combinations cannot fully explain the meaning of the whole phrase and its syntactic function. And thirdly, there are lexical restrictions in the sphere of such word-combinations. For example, there is always one specific lexical element which requires the presence of the other word with the aim to create the whole unit. On the one hand, the common features emphasized above allow calling all this terms synonymic.
