  1. Introduction
  
  “Left Behind: A Novel of the Earth’s Last Days” is the first book from the popular series “Left Behind” by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins which consists of 16 novels. The genre of the novel can be called futuristic, as it depicts some near future for all mankind – a phenomenon called “Rapture”. This book is a peculiar popularization of the Bible in modern genre of mystical thriller. This point can be proved by the statement of the Rapture’s investigator Torin Monahan: “This particular millennialist interpretation of the book of Revelation, which posits the occurrence of a ‘rapture’ apart from the Second Coming, derives not from traditional exegesis but instead from a relatively new, 20th-century revision of the Bible” (Monahan 815).
  The novel “Left Behind” reflects some events that may happen in the Earth, concerning the Bible. According to the merging of a religious theme (especially the popular theory of Rapture) and the genre of mystical futurism, the investigation of the phenomenon “Rapture” as mankind salvation is today very topical.

  It’s not a secret that in modern times there are very few people who give themselves up to religion. But from my point of view, it doesn’t mean that there is no faith in modern world. Indeed, people believe in God and in the possibility to come into heaven before or after their death. But most people don’t attend church for different reasons. Some of them are sure that church is not the house of God, but the corrupt organization. And it makes them feel uncomfortable there. This is the reason of the personage Rayford Steele’s negative attitude towards churches and religion itself:
  Hers was not a church where people gave you the benefit of the doubt, assumed the best about you, and let you be. People there had actually asked him, to his face, what God was doing in his life (p.1).
